After too many failed romances, Emmy Towne, an elementary school teacher, final finds Darryl Cunningham, a successful chemical engineer, on an online dating site. Eight months later the two are married and settled nicely into a two-bedroom in Fredericksburg. But when it comes time to meet Emmy's family-who has a bad track record of scaring off boyfriends- Emmy starts to get cold feet.
